The Rascani Prosecutor’s Office finished the investigation into the case of mass food poisoning that happened at a Chisinau restaurant during a wedding party and sent the case to court. The case involves the restaurant’s director as private individual and the enterprise as legal entity, IPN reports.

Prosecutor Igor Popa told a news conference that the restaurant’s director is accused of keeping, selling and providing dangerous products for the life and health of consumers, which resulted in one death. About 150 persons have been questioned until now. There were performed 30 laboratory analyses of products taken from the restaurant.

It was established that 12 persons who served the wedding guests weren’t employees of the company and didn’t take the required medical exams. The wife of the man who died asked for damages from the economic entity. The prosecutors ordered sequestrating a plot of land owned by the director, which was valued at 1.5 million lei.

Igor Popa said the restaurant’s director was banned from leaving the country. He faces a fine of 16,000 to 20,000 lei or up to three years in jail. The legal entity will be fined 100,000 to 160,000 lei and will be banned from performing particular activities for a period of up to three years, or will be liquidated.
