Prime Minister Iurie Leanca, Deputy Prime Minister Valeriu Lazar and Minister of Finance Anatol Arapu must be investigated within a criminal case for selling Banca de Economii (BEM) and the Chisinau International Airport, the leader of the People’s Movement “Antimafie” Sergiu Mocanu said in a news conference at IPN, IPN reports.

“Iurie Leanca, Arapu and Lazar are to blame for undermining the national economy. They will be the first to be held criminally accountable and we warn them publicly to review their positions,” said Sergiu Mocanu.

According to Mocanu, Anatol Arapu was named in the place of former Minister of Finance Veaceslav Negruta in order to ensure the transaction at the BEM. Negruta refused to do this as he is already investigated criminally.

“Banca de Economii and the airport were sold by Iurie Leanca with the greatest cynicism possible. In 100 days, he managed to deprive the Moldovans of two important facilities,” said Sergiu Mocanu.

He also said that the EU received the most cynical blow from Moldova by the sale of the two facilities. “They pumped out money from the Europeans for three years and then, by a single blow, received Rogozin (Russian Deputy Prime Minster – e.n.) and Patriarch Kiril in Chisinau and, simultaneously, sold two important facilities,” stated the leader of “Antimafie”.

The movement’s deputy head Daniela Bodrug said the reduction in the state-owned shareholding in the BEM and the conceding of the airport represent thefts performed under Government decisions, while the authors of these thefts are Vlad Filat and Vlad Plahotniuc, who carried out their schemes through Iurie Leanca. “The Domneasca Forest incident led to the removal of Filat and Plahotniuc, while the sale of these facilities will lead to the removal of Iurie Leanca,” she stated.

Another deputy head, Vladimir State, said the ruling political parties are a pack of thieves, while the ‘reforms’ in the economy and justice turned out to be real robberies. “All the thieves must be held accountable,” he said.

The Chisinau International Airport was conceded to a Russian company, while the state-owned holding in BEM fell from 56.13% to 33.38% following the non-purchase of shares from the additional issue.
