The crime rate has decreased in Moldova over the first three months of this year, according to police reports. “The number of serious crimes, including murders, attacks and rapes has fallen. These are real figures,” said Colonel Ion Bodrug, deputy head of the Ministry of the Interior’s Police Department, Info-Prim Neo reports. A number of 32 murders have been committed in January-March this year, by 17 fewer compared with the corresponding period last year. Only one of the cases remains unsolved, said Ion Bodrug. There were recorded 50 rapes, by 26 fewer than in the first three months of 2010, 35 burglaries, as against 55 last year, and 11 thefts of cars, as opposed to 18 last year. The statistics do not include the murders in Durlesti and Briceni as they cover only the first three months of the year.
