CreDO director wants to act as observer in commission of inquiry into BEM

The director of the Resource Center for Human Rights (CreDO) Sergiu Ostaf put forward himself for the post of observer on the part of civil society in the parliamentary commission of inquiry into the situation at Banca de Economii of Moldova (BEM), Info-Prim Neo reports. ”I ask included several representatives of civil society in the commission of inquiry as observers, so that they have the rights of members with consultative vote. I suggest myself for one of the places reserved for civil society. I’m sure that other civil society representatives will join this initiative,” Sergiu Ostaf says in his letter to Parliament. He says that he has experience of work in commissions of inquiry. “I rook part in the April 7, 2009 commission as a member with consultative vote, and in the commission of inquiry into the tragic hunting incident in the Domneasca Forest. The contribution of the organization I represent to elucidating the relevant facts was significant,” stated Sergiu Ostaf. He considers that the rights of the civil society representatives in the commission of inquiry must include at least access to all the information studied by the commission, presence at all the commission’s meetings, and the right to state their opinions on any issue examined by the commission, as all the other members. Sergiu Ostaf said the parliamentary commission of inquiry into the situation at Banca de Economii must be a model of transparency, with maximum openness to society, in particular to the specialized groups of civil society.
