The ombudspersons in the first half of this year have received 250 complains about the violation of the right to property. A large part of the complaints came from victims of political repression or their relatives and concern the payment of compensations for the confiscated goods, the director of the Human Rights Center of Moldova (CpDOM) Anatolie Munteanu said at a news conference, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The people also complain about the violation of the constitutional rights in connection with the impossibility of members of agricultural associations situated in the municipality of Chisinau obtaining legal addresses and residence visas.
“Another reason for the complaints filed to the CpDOM is the non-signing of lease contracts with owners of small plots of land, which hinders the integral and efficient exercise of the right to property over agricultural products. The local authorities should better inform the people about legislation and the methods of signing lease contracts,” Munteanu said.
He also said that the foreign investors have not submitted complaints about the non-observance of the right to property to the Center.
There are many applications from depositors of the commercial bank Guineea SA. Three complaints have been recently lodged by depositors of BC Investprivatbank.
“In economic matters, we try to engage the ombudspersons as mediators. For a depositor of Guineea for example it is much more important to get their money back as soon as possible than to obtain that the bank managers are imprisoned,” Anatolie Munteanu said.
