The Republic of Moldova starts to apply scenario No. 4, which means the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 reached 1,000. After the April 7 meeting of the Supreme Security Council, President Igor Dodon said the first three scenarios were managed correctly according to experts and the implementation of the fourth scenario means that the pandemic will now reach its peak. Over 14,000 doctors could be involved in the management of the epidemiological crisis, IPN reports.
Speaking about the preparedness of health facilities, President Dodon said these have the necessary medical supplies that were imported from Ukraine, Romania, China and the Russian Federation. Also, suits, masks, eye protection screens and disinfectants for medical staff were made in the country and 3 tonnes of humanitarian aid from China will soon reach Moldova.
Igor Dodon said there are 27 strategic hospitals in the country and more sorting centers will be set up if need be.
To support the doctors, the authorities offered them bonuses to the salary, provided free coronavirus test kits for testing healthcare workers and staged online training seminars for managing the pandemic crisis during the next few weeks. The official noted that he requested the Government to propose a new strategy as regards the medical system.
At the start of March, the Supreme Security Council designed several scenarios for managing the pandemic crisis and decided that the President and all the state institutions will be directly engaged in the management of this crisis.
