COVID-19 causes four more deaths

Four persons, among whom is a doctor, succumbed to COVID-19 on May 10, IPN reports, with reference to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection.

Doctor Ivan Shleahtitski, 72, was a surgeon and worked at the Ceadâr-Lunga District Hospital. On May 1, he was admitted to the Emergency Medicine Institute in a very serious state, being transferred from the Comrat District Hospital. “This is a big loss for the health system. We offer our sincere condolences to the family and colleagues,” wrote the Ministry.

The other victims are two women and a man from Chisinau aged between 57 and 66. They all suffered from different diseases, such as type 2 diabetes, arterial hypertension, overweight, mixed cardiomyopathy and angina pectoris.

As many as 256 persons with COVID-19 are in the hospital in a serious state, with 18 of them being connected to mechanical ventilation. Thirty-three cured persons were discharged from the hospital on May 9. A number of 1,958 infected persons have recovered by now.

A total of 4, 867 infections with COVID-19 have been confirmed in Moldova so far. Of these, 1,176 were among employees of the healthcare system.
