A man aged 27 was arrested by the police on suspicion that he killed the seven-year-old girl from Hasnasenii Mari village of Drochia district, who went missing and was then found dead in a well on the outskirts of the village. The suspect is a cousin of the girl’s stepfather.
Contacted by IPN, Sabina Cojusnean, press officer of the General Police Inspectorate, said that when he was questioned, the suspect said only that he liked the girl, without explaining what he meant. The preliminary examinations showed the girl was killed cruelly as she had six stab wounds in the neck. The police started a criminal case over deliberate murder. Medical examiners are to establish if the girl was raped.
Two suspects were initially arrested in this case. One of the men was set free after the circumstances were verified.
In the evening of January 13, the girl went to sing carols and New Year songs together with her friends and didn’t return home. The parents informed the police on January 14 and searches were launched immediately. On January 19, a shepherd found the girl’s body in a well.
