The Court of Appeals will re-examine on November 6 the case filed against the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) by a group of staffers from the former public stations Antena C Radio and Euro TV channel. The court sitting, scheduled for Tuesday, October 16, has been postponed at the request of the CMC representative, who claimed he didn’t manage to renew the mandate which entitles him to represent the City Hall and CMC in the Court. Maria Orlov, attorney for the journalists, asserts that three weeks after the first postponed sitting should be enough for issuing a mandate. She says that it is another attempt of the City Hall and CMC representatives together with Judge Ion Secrieru to delay the trial. The same opinion is shared by the former deputy director of Antena C Radio, Ecaterina Stratan, who said she is disappointed and indignant at the attitude of the new leadership of the capital’s City Hall. According to her, it repeats the violations of the former local public administration. Ecaterina Stratan told Info-Prim Neo the journalists hoped that once the administration in the capital city had changed, the attitude towards this case would change too, but it didn’t happen. More than 30 employees of the two stations have requested the annulment of the sale procedure of the respective media institutions. The plaintiffs demand compensations of 100,000 for each for the moral harm caused.
