A call made earlier today reporting a bomb threat at the Chisinau Court of Appeals proved to be a hoax. The caller is yet to be identified, General Police Inspectorate spokesperson Mariana Bețivu has told IPN.
The Court building was evacuated this morning after an unidentified man made a 112 call to announce, in Russian, that a bomb was to explode in the building in three hours.
Specialized services were deployed, the area was cordoned off, and Teilor Street, where the court is located, was closed for vehicle traffic. A thorough search that lasted for an hour revealed nothing.
Placing false bomb threats is a criminal offense punishable by a fine ranging from 27,500 to 42,500 lei ($1,570-$2,427), or 180 to 240 hours community service, or up to 24 months in prison.
