Court of Accounts finds irregularities at Ministry of Agriculture

The Court of Accounts found some unjustified expenditure in last year’s remuneration of the Ministry of Agriculture (MAIA) employees. Irregularities were found in the renting of spaces in the 6 institutions subordinated to the Ministry. The results of the audit were presented during the Court meeting on Tuesday, August 2, Info-Prim Neo reports.
During the debates, it was stated that not all of MAIA’s subordinated institutions and funded from the public budget were registered according to legal procedures. Another irregularity was found in the appointment of state representatives in the boards of subordinated companies. 45 of them are part of the boards of 3-6 companies at the same time.
Serafim Urecheanu, chairman of the Court of Accounts, said that all the gathered materials would be sent to competent bodies for examination. “I hope the recommendations of this report will help the Ministry and its subordinated structures to manage public funds better. We will inform both the Government and the Parliament about the audit results. Finding the people responsible for these irregularities and setting deadlines for fixing the situation will improve the activity of the Ministry”, added Urecheanu.
Attending the event, Minister of Agriculture Vasile Bumacov said that some of the problems had already been removed while the Ministry was still working on the rest.
