A woman will have to pay maintenance pension to her mother aged 81. The old woman asked the prosecutors to make her daughter help her with money. The prosecutors began legal action.
“The court admitted partially the civil lawsuit filed by the prosecutor of Botanica district on behalf of the pensioner and ordered that the daughter pay a monthly maintenance pension of 300 lei to her mother,” the Prosecutor General’s Office says in a communiqué quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
The old woman complained she receives a pension of 778 lei, which is her only source of existence, and cannot pay for the utilities and purchase food, clothes and medications on such a sum.
Her daughter earns 3,500-4,500 lei a month. She is married and does not have minor children.
Prosecutor General’s Office says that under the Family Code, the adult children that can work are obliged to maintain and look after the parents that are unable to work and need financial assistance and to cover a part of the additional costs incurred by them.
