The claim filed by the Chisinau City Hall to ban the Party of Socialists (PSRM), the “Our Party” (PPPN) and the Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth” from mounting a protest in the square before the Parliament Building on September 27 will be examined on September 26.
“The hearing was adjourned until tomorrow, 10am,” head of the Chisinau City Hall’s Legal Assistance Division Diana Gurschi has told IPN. The case is tried by the Centru District Court of Chisinau.
Members of the PSRM and PPPN submitted a preliminary application asking authorizing a protest in the square before the Parliament Building on September 27 to the Chisinau City Hall. But the Platform “Dignity and Truth” filed a similar application earlier. Given that an agreement as to the holding of the protests wasn’t reached and following an application from the State Guard and Protection Service, which requested not authorizing demonstrations on that place because the legislation on the protection of the territory adjoining the Parliament Building is violated, the local authorities decided to file a lawsuit.
Though both of the sides said earlier that they will comply with the court decision, the PSRM and PPPN pitched tents in front of the Parliament Building in the evening of September 24, saying this is a legal step they took in preparation for the large-scale protest.
