A man aged 26 and his 17-year-ol wife are suspected of blackmail. The police established that the young man, who serves his sentence in Penitentiary No. 9 in Pruncul, threatened other convicts with death or use of violence, extorting money from them, IPN has learned from the General Police Inspectorate.
On February 4, the police arrested the man’s wife after this received 7,000 lei from the wife of another detainee, who was threatened with death by the suspect, in the municipality of Chisinau.
Upon a search in the suspect’s cell, there were found mobile phones, a substance similar to “Metadon” and other banned objects.
The man faces 7 to 10 years in jail and a fine of 30,000 to 40,000 lei over blackmail.
