Couple rain-washed in Chisinau

A married couple was caught unawares yesterday by strong streams of rainwater while walking along Ion Inculet Street in Chisinau. Engulfed, knocked down, and dragged several meters, the couple survived the incident, Info-Prim Neo. A woman who witnessed the incident from a passing by share taxi called the police. But fortunately the spouses handled the mishap without anyone's help. According to the Department for Emergencies, because of the heavy rainfall on June 19 there were flooded a series of streets in the city. On some of them vehicle traffic was disrupted. The rain also left six cars under water and broke a water supply pipe, leaving some 4,000 homes in Gratiesti and Rascani without tap water. By morning, water supply was resumed in some homes, but its pressure is still low.
