A man and a woman aged 39 were sentenced to 10 years in jail each for trafficking in human beings, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communique from the Prosecutor General's Office. During August-September 2007, the man together with the woman and other unidentified persons recruited two young women for sexual exploitation. While the necessary documents were being prepared, the girls, who were from socially underprivileged families, lived at the traffickers' place in Cahul town. At the beginning of September 2007, the man and his female partner accompanied the girls to the Chisinau International Airport, from where they were to leave for Turkey to work as prostitutes. The girls were stopped at the airport. The sentence can be appealed to a higher court.
