Council of AEI-2 to convene

The leaders of the Alliance for European Integration - 2 (AEI-2) will come together for a meeting of the Alliance’s Council on Tuesday, September 6, the chairman of the Liberal Party (PL) Mihai Ghimpu announced in a televised program on Monday evening, Info-Prim Neo reports. Mihai Ghimpu stated he wanted the meeting of the Council to take place on Monday, but it wasn’t possible. “The PLDM had an internal meeting. I phoned about 15 times, but the Prime Minister did not answer and thus we set the hour ourselves as the presidency of the Council is held by the PL,” he said. He also said that the party will suggest several solutions for overcoming the political crisis and electing the head of state. One of them is to adopt a new Constitution. “In the name of the democracy we compromise and of the people who expect changes, we must leave everything aside and govern further. There are solutions for ending the crisis and electing the President even without Communists’ votes,” stated Mihai Ghimpu. He informed that the party has one more solution, but it will be made public only after the Council’s meeting. Mihai Ghimpu said the members of the Alliance should comply with the agreement signed by every side. “My position is that the agreement by which the Alliance was formed must be respected,” he stressed. The Liberal leader added that if solutions are not found at the Tuesday’s meeting and no decisions are taken, he will propose that the meetings of the AEI Council should become public so that the people could see who and what solutions and arguments has and who is in opposition. According to Mihai Ghimpu, the meeting of the Council will start at 8pm.
