The situation at the Costesti-Stinca dam on the Prut River is under control, with the discharge level kept at 600 cubic meters per second, informed Emergencies chief Mihai Harabagiu, Info-Prim Neo reports. Mihai Harabagiu said that although the Prut lowlands are partly affected, in particular in the districts of Nisporeni and Ungheni, there is no risk of flooding in residential areas. So far, there have been cases of flooded basements and farmland, but the damages are minor, he added. Prime Minister Vlad Filat on a visit to the the Costesti-Stinca dam today instructed the local authorities to stock on sand sacks, fuel, food, tents, pumps and other necessary things to be ready in case of flooding. The level of the Nistru doesn’t portend major floods either, said the emergencies authorities.
