The phenomenon of corruption in Moldova is fueled by the political parties that come to power. Such conclusions were formulated by a group of election runners in the program “Politics” on TV 7 channel, IPN reports.

The leader of the European Action Party Mihai Godea considers that the way in which the political class is formed in Moldova is to blame. “It is a vicious circle. The political parties must be financed from the budget, but the donations provided by the people are actually used to corrupt the political parties. The donors giving more money to parties dictate the conditions and promote their interests,” he stated.

Independent candidate in the November 30 parliamentary elections Oleg Brega said the state institutions empowered to fight corruption are very politicized. “In Moldova there are institutions that can fight corruption. Another matter is that they are controlled by particular parties and are not independent and this directly affects their activity and thus remain inefficient,” he stated.

Another independent candidate Oleg Cernei noted that the political leaders are in fact those who decide everything. “The other MPs are nothing else but a voting machine for the party leaders. The party leaders are those who tell the members of the party how to vote. With such a system, corruption will not be eradicated,” he said.

The leader of the Movement “Moldova’s Patriots” Mihail Garbuz considers that the low salaries of those empowered to root out corruption are to blame. “You can bring judges from abroad, but with the salaries they will receive here, even if they were increased, they will also become corrupt in a short period of time,” he stated.
