The number of new Covid cases among children has increased on the previous week from 188 to 233, or 23.4%, as the total number of cases grew by 7% last week. Of the total 2,556 cases recorded, 84.1% are among unvaccinated people, IPN learns from the Ministry of Health.
In the last 14 days, the number of cases increased by 29.8%, from 272 cases during August 9-22 to 353 cases during August 16-29. Most patients developed mild and asymptomatic forms (85.6%), followed by patients with moderate forms (7.6%) and severe forms (6.8%).
During week 34, 31 deaths were registered, compared to week 33, when 55 deaths were registered. The incidence in the last 14 days was 142 cases per 100 thousand people, a 30.3% increase compared to week 33 (109 cases per 100 thousand) and double compared to week 32 (72 cases per 100 thousand).
The most affected administrative territories are Edinet district (267 cases per 100 thousand), Leova district (251 cases per 100 thousand), Cahul district (233 cases per 100 thousand) and Soroca district (227 cases per 100 thousand).
In the last 14 days, a code red alert has been declared in 22 administrative territories, including Edineț, Leova, Cahul, Soroca, Cimișlia, and Chisinau.
Across the nation, 21.4% of people received a first dose of Covid vaccination, and 19.79% received two. Among health care workers, a total of 88.89 % received one shot, and 87.15% two shots, which reduced morbidity in this group by 85%.
The highest two-shot vaccination rates are registered in Chisinau municipality - 30%, Soroca district - 22%, Dubasari district - 22%, and Orhei district -21%. At the same time, the lowest rates, ranging from 11% to 14%, are seen in the districts of Leova, Singerei and Gagauzia. The age group that is the least vaccinated is 18-29 years.
Since the beginning of the vaccination effort, about 1,400 side effects have been reported, including 92.5% mild, 7.5% moderate, and zero severe.
The Ministry of Health recalls that vaccination prevents severe forms and deaths from Covid.
