The Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” (PPPDA) and the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) diminished the value of the new parliamentary elections in Hâncești constituency by fielding other candidates for MP than their leaders Maia Sandu and Andrei Năstase, stated political commentator Corneliu Ciurea. According to him, the people expected that the elections in Hâncești will involve the two politicians, but Maia Sandu and Andrei Năstase do not run for MP there for fear of losing, IPN reports.
Corneliu Ciurea noted that in the conflict situation existing now between the two parties, the PAS should prove that its candidate for MP in Hâncești Olesea Stamate deserves to take at least the second place.
Sociologist Ian Lisnevschi said that in their struggle for Hâncești, the PAS and PPPDA forgot about the country. A recent poll shows 63% of the respondents do not know that elections will be held in Hâncești constituency. Also, two thirds of those surveyed know that misunderstandings appeared between the PAS and PPPDA. “A regional problem was turned into a national one. The people find scandals interesting and a conflict appeared owing to incorrect management. Therefore, Olesea Stamate is now in a rather difficult situation,” he noted.
Commentator Boris Shapovalov said the elections in Hâncești will be won by the Democratic Party’s candidate. “I’m sure that the Democrats’ candidate will win the elections in this constituency as former candidate Alexandru Botnari enjoyed authority in this region” he stated, adding that if the conflict between the PAS and PPPDA hadn’t occurred, independent candidate Grigore Cobzac would have had real chances of winning.
According to him, the two parties entered into a conflict because none of them has party discipline inside them.
The new parliamentary elections in Hâncești constituency will take place on March 15 this year.
