Corjova Mayor Valeriu Mitsul and local councilman Iurie Cotsofan went on a hunger strike refusing to receive food packages from relatives. Lawyer Alexandru Postica of Promo-Lex NGO has told Info-Prim Neo the arrestees refuse food because of reports that poisoning cases have been frequent in Transnistrian penitentiary facilities. Mitsul and Cotsofan also request to be provided with a lawyer from Chisinau and the OSCE Mission to Moldova. In response, Alexandru Postica asked the OSCE Mission to accompany him to the Transnistrian region to visit the arrestees. The mayor and the local councilman from Corjova were arrested and detained by the separatist authorities two days ago as they were participating in an event held to mourn the Nistru war deaths.
