The Baccalaureate session this year will be staged according to the methodology approved for the 2014-2015 school year and the exams will also be taken at Baccalaureate centers under video supervision, Minister of Education Corina Fusu said in a meeting of the parliamentary commission on education, sport and mass media, when asked by the Socialist MP to provide details. The minister also spoke about the state order for colleges and universities for this year, noting that the places earmarked for higher and vocational education are lower in number compared with last year, IPN reports.
“The Baccalaureate exams in 2016 will be held according to the methodology approved for the 2014-2015 school year. There will be about 22,000 candidates who will seat the exams at 100 centers outfitted with video cameras,” said the minister of education. This year, the candidates with international certificates showing proficiency in English and French will have to present a certificate to the National Agency for Quality Assurance in Education.
As to the admission plan for this year, Corina Fusu said the draft state order envisions 9,500 places for professional-technical education, 6,400 places for colleges, and 17,500 places for university education, bachelor’s degree, which is less than last year. Over 5,900 places are budget-funded ones.
MP Maria Ciobanu, referring to the Baccalaureate session, said the head of the Baccalaureate center should not be the director of the lyceum where the center will be set up because this person knows all the ways within the institution.
In another development, it was noted that the Ministry of Education proposed allocating 1.6 billion lei for managing the subordinate institutions out of the total sum of 8.8 billion lei intended for education.
