Residents of the village of Copanca, Causeni rayon, today prevented the installation of electricity pylons. Premier Energy Distribution told IPN that the work, which was suspended today, will be resumed when adequate working conditions are ensured for the teams.

Villagers who came to the place where the pylons were brought started shouting at the workers, telling them that they should be left to make their own choice and not have conditions imposed on them. According to the locals, no one will pay the bills for them, and state subsidies are low. Under these conditions, they will have no money left for food and medicine. They will therefore not allow the work to go ahead.

Contacted by IPN, representatives of Premier Energy Distribution said that the works to connect Copanca to the electricity grids have started in accordance with the decision of the Commission for Exceptional Situations.

"For the time being the works have been suspended, the distribution operator's teams have been withdrawn from the field. The company has informed the authorities about the situation and is awaiting a decision to determine further action," the company says.

According to the CSE's decision, both Copanca and Varnitsa in Anenii Noi, both technologically connected to the networks on the left bank of the Dniester, are to be connected to Premier Energy Distribution networks.
