Cooperation with Japan is a priority for Moldova, Pavel Filip

The Government’s program for 2016-2018 sets the realization of the cooperation potential between Moldova and Japan as a foreign policy priority, Prime Minister Pavel Filip said in a meeting with Japan’s Ambassador in Chisinau Masanobu Yoshii. The officials took stock of the Moldovan-Japanese cooperation relations and discussed possibilities of intensifying cooperation in areas of mutual interest, IPN reports.

According to the Government’s press service, Pavel Filip said the Moldovan authorities aim to develop the bilateral relations and diversify trade between the two states. “The bilateral relations are based on common values, friendship and mutual respect and we are ready to intensify and foster them,” he stated.

Ambassador Masanobu Yoshii said many Japanese businesspeople intend to visit Moldova to study the possibilities of starting businesses here. He noted that for investors, it is important to see the stability and democratic development of the country, adding there are already many success stories as regards Japanese investments in Moldova.

The officials also conferred on the reforms promoted by the Government of Moldova in the justice and financial-banking sectors and the developments in Moldova’s relations with the foreign partners, including the International Monetary Fund.
