The cooperation prospects in the area of security and defense between Moldova and the European Union were discussed by the head of the Parliament’s commission on national security, defense and public order Veaceslav Untila with representatives of the European Commission project “High quality studies on specific subjects to support activities under the Eastern Partnership“, IPN reports.
According to the Parliament’s press service, the interlocutors discussed the situation in the area of security and defense of Moldova and the country’s experience of cooperation with the European Union in this field.
Veaceslav Untila said the commission he heads carries out parliamentary control. He referred also to the international treaties on security and defense signed by Moldova and to the relations of cooperation with the European states and international organizations.
The European Commission experts are in Moldova on a mission to study the country’s prospects of cooperation with European states in the area of security and defense and possibilities of taking part in different European platforms and projects.
A report of good practices of the Eastern Partnership countries in the cooperation with the EU in security and defense will be compiled based on the study.
