The Supreme Court of Justice rejected the appeal of Ion Druta, alias Vanea Pisateli, against the Appeals Court’s judgment whereby he was sentenced to 20 years in jail, upholding thus the conviction, IPN reports.

According to the Prosecutor Generic’s Office, on October 22, 2015 the Chisinau Appeals Court found Ion Druta guilty of organizing the kidnaping and murder of three men and sentenced him to 20 years behind bars. The prosecutors proved that this orchestrated the triple murder committed in the winter of 2000. The victims were shot and then burned and buried because they refused to divide the money earned from selling a stolen car with Druta.

The bodies of the three men were discovered in a wooded area on the Chisinau – Hancesti road in 2008. In 2011, the Ialoveni Court acquitted the gangster for the reason that his deeds didn’t represent elements of an offense. The prosecution challenged the sentence and the Appeals Court in several years quashed the verdict as illegal and convicted Druta.

The Supreme Court of Justice’s judgment is irrevocable.

At the start of this year, Ion Druta was sentenced to five years in prison for illegal sale of firearms and ammunition.
