A conventional unit will no longer be equal to 20 lei. It will represent 1% of the average monthly salary forecast for the period when the offense was committed. A legislative initiative to this effect, drafted by the Ministry of Justice, was adopted by Parliament in the first reading, IPN reports.
In the June 23 sitting of Parliament, Deputy Minister of Justice Nicolae Esanu said the size of the minimum fine is proposed to be raised from 150 to 250 conventional units for private individuals and from 500 to 1,500 conventional units for legal entities. The highest fine will be increased from 1,000 to 3,000 conventional units.
The proposals were supported by most of the MPs attending the sitting.
