Experts have differing opinions about the 30-day period set by Prime Minister Pavel Filip for implementing the measures stipulated in the Association Agreement with the EU that are overdue. Some consider the timeframe is a realistic one, while others believe it is too short. The issue was discussed in the talk show “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.

Lawyer Roger Gladei thinks the government can achieve the set goal within the 30-day period and this depends more on Parliament than on the Government. “The Government drafted many important bills that weren’t adopted by Parliament. But there are positive signals inside the judicial system. The people want reforms. There are preconditions for remedying the situation,” he stated.

Alexandru Cauia, dean of the Faculty of Law of the Moldova Free International University, is optimistic about the meeting of the deadline set by Pavel Filip. “We have many strategies and plans and should only start work. I think corruption will ultimately stop existing,” he said.

Expert of the Institute for Development and Social Initiatives “Viitorul” Corneliu Ciurea stated a different opinion. “I’m skeptical about the success of this goal. I do not believe in radical reforms. The Europeans do not want us to change the structure of the system. They want to see grand corruption eliminated and high-ranking officials jailed. We have such officials, but they are all of a political color. The government should be changed for senior officials of another color to be imprisoned,” he said.
