The Chisinau City Hall has announced that all the contracts signed by the municipal subdivisions with the business entities investigated in the case of bid rigging and delivery of unfit food products to schools and kindergartens will be terminated, IPN reports.
By this yearend, the schools and kindergartens of Chisinau municipality will be supplied with food products by the other companies that signed contracts for the delivery of food products and about which there are no suspicions as to the quality of the supplied products. If need be, new contracts will be signed with other suppliers.
In the immediate period, the Chisinau City Hall will initiate public discussions on the menus in schools and kindergartens with the participation of parents and representatives of education institutions and will also commence a reform in the field.
Last week, anticorruption officers arrested 16 persons, including nine functionaries of municipal education divisions, on suspicion of involvement in the rigging of bids for supplying food products to schools and kindergartens in Chisinau. There were cases when children ate unfit products and were hospitalized with food poisoning.
