Smuggled goods valued overall at 100,000 lei were found and seized by customs officers in only one night, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to a press release of the Customs Service, four minibuses carrying unaccompanied packages from Italy, Austria and Netherlands were stopped. The customs officers seized over 20 boxes of washing powder and consumer goods –women’s boots, clothing and even a used engine. In another case, during the inspection of a bus that transported passengers from Italy to Moldova, the customs officers found new car parts and 48 1-liter vessels for the gearbox in the baggage. The driver risks a fine of up to 6000 lei or 2 years in jail. In the north of the country, the officers at the Criva-Mamaliga customs post found two undeclared laptops, as well as parts and accessories for them in the bus on the route Cernauti –Chisinau. They were hidden in a luggage. An hour later, at the same customs post, smuggled goods were discovered in the Lvov –Chisinau bus. The baggage of an Ukrainian citizen contained a large amount of car accessories that were to be sold in Chisinau. In both cases, the customs post has written reports on the guilty persons. They risk fines of up to 1600 lei. The seized goods are stored at the customs post.
