A contest for filling the vacant job of secretary of the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) was announced following a decision taken by the CMC on November 1. The post fell vacant after Vladimir Sarban was appointed as head of Centru district of Chisinau. The candidates must be citizens of Moldova residing in Chisinau. They must speak Romanian fluently, be graduates in law or public administration and have at least five years’ seniority. At Thursday’s meeting, the CMC designated the members of the commission for selecting the future secretary of the Council. The faction of the Communist Party insisted that the rector of the Academy of Public Administration and former head of the General Division of Education, Youth and Sports Alexandu Roman should form part of the commission. But the proposal was rejected. The ones that voted against made reference to a Government Decision that says that the commission must be composed of at most seven members. The same reason was invoked when the councillor Serghei Chires said that each faction should have by a representative in the commission. Alexandru Tanase, leader of the Liberal-Democratic faction, said that the meetings of the commission for selecting the CMC secretary will be held in transparent conditions so that representatives of all the factions will be able to attend them. Under the decision, the commission will be composed of the CMC chairman Mihai Ghimpu (the commission’s chair), Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca, leader of the AMN faction Pavel Caba, leader of the Social-Democratic faction Eduard Musuc, the Liberal-Democrat Alexandru Tanase, a representative of the Ministry of Local Public Administration and a specialist of the Human Resources Division that will be the commission’s secretary. The dossiers of the candidates must include the applications, copies of the identity card, university diploma and work record book, the medical certificate and criminal record. The copies must be accompanies by the original documents or by copies authenticated by the notary.
