Contest-exhibition of ceramics

The organizers of the largest potters’ fair invite everyone to a contest-exhibition of ceramics that will be mounted in Iurceni, Nisporeni on September 14. Craftsman Adrian Triboi, who is one of the organizers, said the goal of the event is to promote the authenticity of pottery.

The jury will consist of ethnographers and representatives of the organizing institutions. The works will be assessed according to such criteria as authenticity, local typical features, originality, artistic skills, technical quality and functionality. The winners will receive diplomas and money awards.

Interviewed by IPN, Diana Dicusara, director of the National Center for Conservation and Promotion of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, said the exhibition is designed for craftsmen from the most representative geographical areas of Moldova. Each manager of district culture sections suggests potters with authentic works as participants in the contest. Every participant can present an unlimited number of decorative and practical things made by hand, according to the traditions of the genre.

The Top Prize of 3,000 lei is provided by the National Center for Conservation and Promotion of the Intangible Cultural Heritage. The first prize, offered by the same center, is 2,000 lei. The second prize, of 1,500 lei, is provided by the Union of Craftsmen. Two persons will get by a third prize of 1,000 lei each, offered by the Nisporeni District Council and the Iurceni mayor’s office.

The prize “Arsenii Ion” of 1,500 lei is given by the Union of Craftsmen. The Nisporeni District Council and the Iurceni mayor’s office will also offer several special prizes of 1,000 lei, plus five prizes of 500 lei provided by the Union of Craftsmen.
