The regulations concerning the provision of interest-free loans to election contenders running in the new mayoral elections of October 16 were approved. An order to this effect was signed by Minister of Finance Dumitru Budianschi, IPN reports.
The interest-free loans are provided from the state budget to election contestants for supporting the election campaign prior to the new mayoral elections of October 16, 2022. Such loans are designed for political parties, other sociopolitical organizations and independent candidates. Loans from the state budget are released only to a proxy designated by the election contender.
An interest-free loan is at of at 25,000 lei for each party, sociopolitical organization or electoral bloc and of 5,000 lei for an independent candidate.
