Consumption prices decreased 0.4% in July

The consumption prices in July have decreased by 0.4% compared with June, according to the data presented by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) of Moldova. NBS say that the prices for alimentary products reduced by 3.8%. At the same time, the prices for non-alimentary products have increased by 1.1% and by 3.7% for services provided to the population. The statistics show that sharp decrease of the prices for alimentary products had a seasonal character. Potatoes dropped in price by 39.1%, fresh vegetables by 18.8%, including early cabbage by 50.9%, cucumber by 45.5%, and onion by 34.2%. The prices of fresh fish decreased by 2.4% and of beef and pork by 0.5%. Concomitantly, diet eggs price increased by 12.1%, fresh fruits by 9.3%, poultry by 2.2%, ewe’s cheese and buckwheat by1.7%. Golden items increased by 2.7%, fuel by 2.3%, drugs by 1.8%, detergents, dye and wallpaper by 2.5%, brick by 2.2%, and cement by 1.4%. During this period the tariffs for services provided to population, and namely natural gas supplies increased significantly – 18.1%, public transportation – 14.5% and water supply – 4.9%. In July, compared with June 2006, an inflation rate of 0.4% was registered, and compared with December 2005 the inflation rate constituted 7%.
