The Chisinau residents with debts for water supply and sewerage services risk being disconnected. SA “Apa-Canal Chisinau” says the disconnection is the only effective method to make consumers fulfill their financial obligations, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the company.
To avoid being disconnected, the consumers with debts are being issued with notices and prescriptions, while the housing stock managers are repeatedly invited to negotiations to deal with the created situation. After notices are issued, most of those with debts can clear these within five days.
When the debts are not settled, the consumers are disconnected. Currently, only the business entities are calculated penalties for debts as the contract stipulates this. SA “Apa-Canal Chisinau” is now resigning the contracts with household consumers and these will also stipulate the possibility of imposing penalties.
The debts for water supply and sewerage services in 2016 came to 20.5 million lei. The historical debts amount to about 285 million lei. The difference between the metered volume and the losses inside apartment buildings represents the largest part of the debts.
