A rapid alert system for exchanging information on dangerous products will be set up in the Republic of Moldova. It will allow any dangerous or potentially dangerous non-food product to be reported quickly, and citizens to be informed immediately, IPN reports.

According to a draft law approved by the Cabinet, this information will come either from the market surveillance authorities, which identify such products, or from economic operators that want to prevent any danger that can affect the life and health of consumers.

The system will be similar to the European Union's rapid alert system known as “RAPEX”, which currently protects millions of consumers in EU countries.

"The adoption of this system is a concrete step towards European integration and will help our authorities prepare for the efficient use of the RAPEX system, when the Republic of Moldova will become an EU member or will gain direct access to this system, according to the decision by the European Commission," reads a press release.
