The "Consumer Protection" National Public Association, active for more than 15 years, asks the country's leadership to respect consumers’ rights. At a press conference held at IPN, members of the organization said that since the change of government, consumers have been breathing easier, as there has been hope of improving things.

Olga Țvetova, a member of the "Consumer Protection" Association says that people put their hopes in Igor Dodon and Zinaida Greceanîi. "Homeless persons also trust Andrei Năstase", said the woman.

Ludmila Stepanova, a pensioner, complained about the housing and utility services providers, saying that they lie to consumers and unfairly distribute maintenance payments. The pensioner says people need an organization to defend their rights.

The president of the "Consumer Protection" Association, Piotr Guțul, recalled that in 2009 the criminal liability for the non-observance of consumer rights was canceled. Later, legislative amendments were adopted by which persons can be represented in court only by a lawyer or a relative licensed in law. Thus, the public associations have been deprived of the right to sue the consumers whose rights have been violated. The members of the Association wish to return to the previous situation, until the changes in question are promoted.

Piotr Guțul also said that several problems have been gathered which require attention from the authorities. The activist mentioned that the Law on the public water supply and sewerage service violates the consumer's right. In addition to the water consumption indicated by the water meter, the consumer is also required to pay a share of losses.

Piotr Guțul also spoke about street trade, noting that vendors do not issue receipts, making it impossible for buyers to complain. He also regretted the extension by the Parliament of the period within which the patent-based activity is allowed. The president of the "Consumer Protection" Association says that the patent holders are harming the budget.

The members of the organization also announced about the possibility of creating a political party.
