Intellectual property experts of the business consultancy company Consult Group point to an increase in the number of cases of infringement of copyright over the Internet, Info-Prim Neo reports. Irina Bargan, jurist specializing in intellectual property thefts, recommends the authors that post their works on the Internet to sign them and indicate the year, month and day when they are published and to use the word “copyright” in order to warn other users. The specialists also suggest sending the information by email or mail so that the sending date is indicated. In case of a trial, the court will consider it as a proof. In a communique, Consult Group says that those that infringe the copyright are held accountable in accordance with the civil, administrative and penal law. The harshest punishment for such offenses is three to five years imprisonment. Recently, the U.S. agency Associated Press has announced that it plans to identify the users that fraudulently use the information provided by the agency by simply copying and compiling the content. It said it will create a news registry that will tag and track all AP content online to assure compliance with terms of use. Journalism Online said it entered into partnership with hundreds of newspapers and electronic journals that want to use its e-commerce system. Therefore, the readers that will access the content online will be charged from this autumn.
