Consular Section of Romania’s Embassy partially resumes consular services

The Consular Section of the Embassy of Romania in Moldova on November 26 recommences a part of the consular services, such as the issuing of travel documents and visas, acceptance of applications to register birth and of applications to issue passports, primarily to minors, IPN reports.

On November 23, the Section suspended its activity after an employee was confirmed with SARS-CoV-2. The Embassy noted sanitary and protection measures were urgently adopted in accordance with the protocols.

There were also taken measures to reorganize and support the activity of the Consular Section so that work with the public is resumed on November 26 in safe conditions, but only the three consular services will be available.

During November 26 – December 8, the team of the Consular Section of the Embassy of Romania in in Chisinau will be supplemented with four consular functionaries who will come to Chisinau from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania to ensure the optimal management of the Section.

The Embassy of Romania in Chisinau said that in the period it will also provide consular assistance and protection to Romanian citizens in special situations, such as death, accident, hospitalization, conflicts at work, loss of travel documents, repatriation of persons in vulnerable situations, and also emergency consular services, by obeying the measures and restrictions adopted at the local level in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic.
