Constructors in Chisinau fail to fulfil promises to place lampposts near building sites

The city authorities are upset by the fact that the constructors have failed to keep their promises and place lampposts near the buildings sites in Chisinau. Chief city architect Vladimir Modarca stated at the meeting of the City Hall on Monday that the municipality should moderate its demands on investors, as they have many other concerns to deal with when erecting a building. At the same time, the head of the city Transport Department Veaceslav Tarna stated that the urbanism authorisation compels the contractors to install lampposts. According to Tarna, although initially the constructors commit themselves to perform the assigned task, they eventually avoid it. Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca admits that street lighting is, first of all, the duty of the municipality. However, he says investors could easily honour their obligations, taking into account the profitability of the construction business.
