Constitutional Court’s decision shows Communist intimidation can be stopped, MAE

The European Action Movement (MAE) welcomes the Constitutional Court’s decision to validate the election of Mihai Ghimpu as Head of Parliament and calls on the leaders of the Alliance for European Integration (AEI) to immediately stabilize the political situation in the country, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communique from the organization. “This confirmation shows how the state institutions should work in Moldova: democratically and independently, free from the pressure exerted by the Communists Party,” the communique says. According to the MAE, the Court’s decision shows that the manipulation and intimidation by interfering in the state institutions’ work can be stopped if the government is democratic. On September 8, the Constitutional Court stopped examining the application, whereby the PCRM challenged the constitutionality of the decisions made by the Parliament on August 28, in the absence of the Communist MPs. The leading figures of the Communists Party said they will obey the Court’s decision and will attend the next sitting of the Parliament set by the AEI for September 10.
