The Constitutional Court today formally validated the outcome of the February 24 legislative elections. It also validated the 50 MP mandates won under the proportional component and 51 others won in single-member districts.

The preliminary results announced earlier by the Central Election Commission thus become final: the Socialist Party gets 35 seats in Parliament, including 17 from single-member constituencies; the Democratic Party gets 30, including 17 from constituencies; the electoral bloc NOW gets 26, including 12 from constituencies; and the Shor Party gets 7, including 2 from constituencies. Three other seats were won by independents in single-member constituencies.

During the same sitting, the Court heard NOW’s appeal questioning the legality of elections in five constituencies and their outcome. The bloc also claimed that there was a mistake in the distribution of seats under the proportional component, resulting in one of its seats being  wrongly assigned to the Socialists. The Court dismissed both appeals as ill-founded.

The Constitutional Court also validated the lists of alternate members for the Shor Party (44), PDM (37), NOW (33) and PSRM (25).

The decisions are irreversible, unappealable and effective immediately.
