The Central Election Commission will request the Constitutional Court to validate the seat of MP of Sergiu Ceaus, who is a substitute candidate on the list of the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM). The decision was taken in the February 13 meeting of the CEC, IPN reports.
The seat of MP was declared vacant after this was vacated by Iurie Leanca, who was named Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration. As Iurie Leanca entered Parliament on the ticket of the PLDM, the vacant seat will be occupied by a substitute candidate from this party’s list. Nicolae Fachira was the next on the list, but this refused to hold the seat and submitted an application to this effect. Thus, the CEC will request the Constitutional Court to validate the seat of Sergiu Ceaus.
The Liberal-Democratic parliamentary group now consists of five MPs. In the parliamentary elections of 2014, the PLDM won 23 seats.
