The president of the Constitutional Court Dumitru Pulbere considers that the early elections could take place on August 1. In an interview published on the website of the news agency RIA Novosti, he says that after the Parliament approves the Greceanii Government on June 10, Speaker Vladimir Voronin will ask the Constitutional Court to consider dissolving the legislative body as the head of state was not elected, Info-Prim Neo reports. The election campaign for the early elections will last for 45 days. 50% plus one voter must take part in the elections for them to be declared valid. But, as Pulbere said, taking into account such circumstances as the summer period and the tiredness of the electorate, the turnout could be lower than required. “In such a case, there will be announced rerun elections in 14 days that will be validated if the turnout is 1/3 of the registered voters,” the president of the Constitutional Court said. Speaking about the legality of Vladimir Voronin holding the post of President of Moldova and Speaker of Parliament, Dumitru Pulbere said that theoretically the term of office of the head of state expired on April 7, but Voronin will hold office until a new President is elected.
