“The best solution for obtaining a parliamentary majority in the next Parliament is for the Democratic forces to join forces against the Communists,” considers Natalia Nirca, leader of the Conservative Party of Moldova (PC). She made the statement at a news conference held at Info-Prim Neo on Tuesday.
The PC is concerned that the three Opposition parliamentary parties - the AMN, PL and PLDM - have not yet announced how they will participate in elections.
“The leaders of the Opposition parties, especially the parliamentary ones, should overcome their vainglory and reach a compromise,” Natalia Nirca said.
The PC leader also said that the Communist Party participated in the April 5 parliamentary elections under a joint list with two parties “without making much fuss”. “The PCRM list included the leaders of the Socialist Party and of the Agrarian Party. I’m sure that if Eduard Musuc had not lost his party, the PSD would have run in the last elections together with the PCRM,” Nirca said.
If the Opposition parliamentary parties do not accept to run under a joint list with the extra-parliamentary parties, the PC will decide how to take part in elections.
Oleg Nirca, vice president of the PC, considers that if the Opposition joins forces, the voter will have a simpler choice: between the Communists and the anti-Communists.
At the same news conference, Natalia Nirca said that the Social Democratic Party (PSD) expressed readiness to fuse with the PC and that the idea of running under a joint list was welcome by the European Action Movement (MAE) too.
“The ballots should include two election runners: the PCRM and an Opposition party. In such a case, the PC will work to mobilize the voters, Natalia Nirca said one day earlier at a debate meeting organized by the MAE. She also said that the joint list should include the 41 Opposition MPs and members of the political organizations that will back this idea.
The date of early elections will be announced after the new council of ministers is appointed.
