The small projects that the Embassy of Germany is to finance in 2016 must be aimed at improving the quality of life of all the social strata, especially of the disadvantaged and vulnerable groups. The deadline for applications is February 15, IPN reports.

The Embassy of Germany in Chisinau said an eligible project must improve the living conditions of the population in the long run and must meet the durability conception. This should not be only an educative measure, but should also possess an equipment purchase component. The financial support is provided once and does not lead to repeated obligations on the part of the Embassy.

The financing is intended for institutions of common interest such as NGOs or schools. The project must benefit society and must promote the professional formation of a number of persons. The institutions or organizations can submit by only one application for financing, which must be signed by two persons responsible for the project.

The initiatives to support private individuals and to help a small group of beneficiaries start new businesses will not be accepted. Project ideas referring to the medical, military and police sectors will also be rejected. The Embassy cannot support projects whose goal belongs to another financial category (like promotion of the German language, humanitarian assistance and provision of food products).

The financial support usually does not exceed €10,000. The applications for financing can be submitted online or through mail to the address of the Embassy of Germany in Chisinau – 2009, 82 A. Mateevici St.

The Embassy has supported micro-projects since 2004. Alongside the large projects that are normally supported by the GIZ (German Agency for International Cooperation) or KfW (Reconstruction Credit Institute), the micro-projects complement the Federal Government’s commitment to promote development directly at the scene. An advantage of micro-projects is that they can be gathered and implemented much faster and by less effort.
