The victims of political repression will travel free by urban transport in the municipality of Chisinau by presenting a permit showing their status. The announcement was made in the August 8 meeting of officials of Chisinau services and divisions.
Contacted by IPN, Cristina Aparatu, acting head of the Social-Humanitarian and Interethnic Relations Division, before the recent approval of the municipal budget, this category wasn’t among the beneficiaries of public transport concessions. Now that the budget was approved, the victims of political repression will travel free by trolleybus and bus by presenting the permit that confirms the status. About 2,500 persons will enjoy such concessions.
In the meeting, there was also presented information about the trolleybuses that work at night. By four trolleybuses run at an interval of 20 minutes on the two routes with extended program, until 2am – No. 22 and 24. According to the representative of the Chisinau Electric Transport Company, about 8,500 persons used the night routes during a week, the largest number of passengers between recorded between 11am and 12 midnight.
Deputy mayor of Chisinau Nistor Grozavu asked that the night schedule should be respected strictly, regardless of the number of passengers. He requested the administration of the Chisinau Electric Transport Company and the Urban Bus Park to inform their employees about the new category of beneficiaries of public transport concessions.
