A classical music concert will be given at the Organ Hall in Chisinau in the evening of November 29 in connection with Romania’s National Day that is celebrated on December 1. The spectators will be able to admire famous Romanian violinist Alexandru Tomescu, accompanied by the National Chamber Orchestra under the direction of conductor Cristian Florea, IPN reports.

Valeriu Matei, director of the Romanian Cultural Institute “Mihai Eminescu” in Chisinau, which organizes the event, said it is a special concert because the National Chamber Orchestra will accompany one of the most illustrious violinists in in the world Alexandru Tomescu, who is the core of the International Tour “Stradivarius” that Chisinau will host next May.

“Alexandru Tomescu is now considered the most successful violinists. He played with famous international orchestras and the concert halls are packed everywhere, either he performs in New York or in Berlin and London. Today Alexandru Tomescu comes to Chisinau directly from Germany and in the evening we will see him on the stage of the Organ Hall,” stated Valeriu Matei.

Festive performances and concerts on the occasion of the National Day of Romania have been staged in Chisinau since 2010. Valeriu Matei said the public in Moldova is very open and the halls are usually crowded.

“The previous concert organized by the Romanian Cultural Institute – “Duel of Violins” - within the “Sradivarius” Tour, with the participation of Alexandru Tomescu, attracted over 1,200 spectators. The people stood and the violinist played for 45 minutes as an encore,” added Valeriu Matei.

The concert will include works by Doru Popovici, Bela Bartok, W.A.Mozart and George Enescu. It starts at 6pm. Entrance is free.
