Comrat TV channel risks remaining without license

The local TV channel “Eni Ai” working in Comrat may be deprived of license. According to a challenge, the channel broadcast a program where mayor Nicolai Dudoglo, who is running for a new term in the June 5 local elections, presented a report during an hour. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, chairman of the Broadcasting Coordination Council (BCC) Marian Pocaznoi said the challenge will be examined in the May 27 meeting of the Council. If it is established that the plurality and equidistance norms had been violated during the electoral period, the BCC will penalize the broadcaster. The license can be withdraw in case of serious violations or repeated deviations. The information that the TV channel “Eni Ai” presented the opinion of one election contender during the program was confirmed by the chairman of the Gagauz district electoral council Olesea Tanasoglo. The TV channels are allowed to broadcast by only two minutes of electoral publicity per candidate a day, for payment.
